Hi, I’m Matt!
i Y building web applications
Firstly, please note the polaroid to your left and allow me to introduce to you, Mrs Oakley. Anna and I tied the knot on the beach in Negril, Jamaica in November 2009 and I owe an unimaginable debt to Anna for the love and support that she gives to me. Now, on to the less soppy stuff…
I build and maintain websites and web applications that live on the internet and help to make peoples lives that little bit more exciting! It might be an e-commerce system for a local shop, a project management tool for a large construction company or just a social network where I can hang out with some like-minded people…I just love to write code and produce useful and interesting applications.
The day job.
During the day, you’ll find me tapping away on a huge iMac atop my desk @ V4 Technical’s modern offices in Woodbridge, Suffolk. I have worked as a Web Applications Developer with the company since May 2009 and if I’m completely honest, I love it! They are a great company, with interesting projects and most importantly I get to work with a fun bunch of enthusiastic and talented professionals.
If you are a budding web developer in Suffolk and you are looking for an exciting company to join then I’d highly recommend sending a CV in via the V4 Technical website!
I work with a range of development technologies and enjoy finding new and innovative ways to solve problems. Over the years I have had the pleasure to work extensively with:
- PHP (including KohanaPHP and CakePHP frameworks),
- (X)HTML and CSS,
- Javascript and AJAX (including jQuery and PrototypeJS/Scriptaculous libraries),
- MySQL and PostgreSQL Databases,
- Apache Webserver,
- Linux Server Administration
Outside of the office I take time to work on some personal projects and those of some close friends and family. I enjoy exploring interesting new applications that can serve a purpose on the internet.
My vices, yup, even I have ‘em!
Away from the keyboard, you’ll often find me on one of the many football pitches on the parks and heaths of Suffolk. I have a great time refereeing local football at all levels, from adult football on a Saturday afternoon through to youth football on a Saturday morning. My passion for the game has even led me to some fun projects, building a social network for referees and investigating new tools to help with the administration of football around the country.
